Professor McCluskey arrived in the geography department in the fall semester of 1999.
Before coming to Aquinas, he taught at the State University of New York at Geneseo
and was a researcher for the Washington Department of Social and Health Services.
While in Washington (1997-99), he was the geographer for the Washington Household
Needs Assessment Survey. This project was a complex and comprehensive survey of alcohol
and drug use by citizens in the State of Washington. Here at Aquinas, he is responsible
for teaching many of the human and cultural geography courses offered by the department
and specializes in economic, industrial, and urban geography. His interests include
the economic and geographic restructuring of the automobile industry, the historical
geography of immigrant groups in the U.S., and survey research encompassing a variety
of social and economic topics.
