Jack Driscoll, making his first visit to Aquinas on Thursday, September 20, will present the first reading and discussion in the 2007 Aquinas College Contemporary Writers Series at 7:30 p.m. in the Wege Student Center Ballroom. The event is free and the public is welcome. Driscoll's appearance is sponsored by Liesel Litzenburger and Hank Meijer.

Driscoll is the author of four books of poetry, three novels and a collection of short stories, including "How Like an Angel;" "Stardog;" "Lucky Man, Lucky Woman;" and "Waiting Only to be Heard" to name a few.

He is also the recipient of numerous grants and awards, including the NEA Creative Writing Fellowship, the Pushcart Editors' Book Award, the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Award, the AWP Short Fiction Award, and seven Pen Syndicated Project Short Fiction Awards. He is currently Writer-in-Residence at Interlochen Center for the Arts in northern Michigan.

The Aquinas College Contemporary Writers Series was founded by a grant from Tony Foster, M.D. ’73 and Linda Nemec Foster ’72. The series kicked off in 1997 by bringing well-known authors to Aquinas College for a public reading and a workshop with students. >>More Information on the Series
