(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.) - For the 24th Annual Saint Thomas Aquinas Lecture, Aquinas
College will host Donald Goergen, O.P., Ph.D., a Dominican priest, teacher, lecturer,
and author. Goergen will speak during St. Thomas Aquinas week, an annual celebration
of Aquinas’ patron saint. This lecture is part of the Catholic Studies Speakers Series.
“Thomas Aquinas as Spiritual Master”

About the Lecture: Well known as a Dominican theologian and philosopher, Thomas Aquinas was also a mystic
and spiritual master. In addition to his philosophical, theological and biblical writings,
Thomas was also a poet and man with keen spiritual insight into what it means to be
human and in relationship to God.
About Donald Goergen, O.P., Ph.D.: A Dominican priest, Goergen has published many articles and books in the areas of
Christology and Christian Spirituality. His most recent book was "Fire of Love, Encountering
the Holy Spirit." He has taught, lectured and given retreats in Asia, Africa, and
throughout North America. He was previously Provincial for the Dominican Friars of
the Central Province as well as President of the Dominican Leadership Conference.
He co-founded the Dominican Ashram, a contemplative Dominican community and ministry
of prayer, in which he lived for nine years. He previously taught and currently teaches
at the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, MO.
