production of Sophocles' Oedipus the King in the Aquinas College Art and Music Center
Amphitheatre. The production will be held Homecoming Weekend on Thursday, September
27, Friday, September 28, and Saturday, September 29 at 4:00 p.m.. Tickets are available
at the door: General Admission $12 and Student Admission $6.
Sophocles' Oedipus the King is one of the dramas studied by humanities students in the first semester of their sophomore year.
Aquinas College faulty and staff members, students, and alumni, as well as Circle Theatre participants will present the play. The Aquinas College Music Department's College Chorus will perform using chanting, posing, marching dance, and choral recitation techniques. The Art Department will aid in research, set design and will have workshops to make props.
Grand Rapids Circle Theatre and Civic Theatre will supply technical support and properties needed for the production.
The production will be directed by Dr. Gary Konow, Ph.D., Faculty of Theatre and Communication and Dr. Penny Avery, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Communication will be producing the play.
