How does one learn to appreciate the enjoyment that comes from a good mystery novel that can hold you captive until the very end? And how can one explore the outer limits if they never climb aboard for the journey into a science fiction thriller? It's simple. Just pick up a book and read it. Unfortunately, there are many young children who don't understand the importance that reading will play throughout their lives.

A group of Aquinas College students are hoping to make the point that reading is important to those in Congress ? Congress Elementary School, 940 Baldwin S.E., that is. Approximately 20-30 members of the Aquinas Student Senate along with other Aquinas students are going to Congress on Wednesday, February 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. when they plan to stress the importance of reading by reading to the youngsters. In addition, the students collected books that they will be giving to kindergarten and first grade students to take home with them. The donated books came from various clubs and organizations on campus as well as from members of the faculty and staff. A fund has now been set up so that the Aquinas students will be able to give books to all the children in the school in future years.
