On Sunday, October 6, localDispersal, Grand Rapids, a visual and sound exhibition opens at the Aquinas College Art and Music Center Gallery. Featuring 13 artists, the exhibition is the result of artist Amy Sharp's desire to "bring her friends home."

"For many of the pieces, the process, design and construction became part of the finished work. Communities, both public and private, were formed while creating the object, You arrive at some semblance of understanding through active experience." says Sharp, who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Aquinas in 1995, and completed her Masters in Boston. "I am interested in the intersections of relationships.

localDispersal, can be used as a verb, noun, or adjective. Lacking a definitive definition, it refers to the dissemination of the familiar. This exhibition is my way of introducing two points, Grand Rapids and those who tie me to Boston."

localDispersal, Grand Rapids is the first of a series of localDispersal exhibitions, including one in Boston. The exhibition opens on Sunday, October 6, 2-4 p.m. at the Aquinas College Art and Music Center and will run through Friday, November 9. The gallery will be closed October 19-27. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.- 7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 2-6 p.m.

Participating artists include Morgan Schwartz, Ben Spiegelman, Lazaro Montano, Jonathan Sadler, Dirk Adams, David Webber, Pam Larsen Kaneb, Steve Aishman, Nancy Havlick, Su-Jung Lee, Scott Alberg, Dillon Paul and Amy Sharp.
