Commencement at Aquinas College

 

David Bellamy is the Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities West Michigan.  Under David’s leadership, Catholic Charities West Michigan has initiated several new programs and significantly expanded existing programs focused on minimizing food insecurity, providing material, mental and spiritual needs of struggling families and reducing social isolation among seniors in the rural areas of the Diocese of Grand Rapids.

Prior to joining Catholic Charities, David served as the Regional Chief Financial Officer of a $6 billion health system, ran his own consulting practice and led the North Central Region Healthcare and Life Sciences Regulatory Services for Deloitte.

David graduated from Aquinas College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1983 and received a Master of Business Administration from the A.B Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.

David currently serves on the board of West Michigan Partnership for Children and Harmel Academy of the Trades.  He also serves on the Social Policy Committee of Michigan Catholic Conference.  David has previously served as president of the board of directors for Opera Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Ballet Company, Michigan Ballet Academy, the West Michigan Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the West Michigan Chapter of Legatus.  In addition, he has served on the board of Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes, Catholic Charities West Michigan, Pine Rest Foundation, Northern Health Plan, Alcona Health Centers and the Northern Michigan Community Health Innovation Region.

David is the recipient of the Follmer Bronze, Reeves Silver and Muncie Gold Award for service to the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Rosemary Scott Award for service to the Grand Rapids Ballet Company.

David is married to Joan (also Aquinas class of ’83) and they have six adult children and one grandson.
