Aquinas Senior Rachael Pineiro and faculty member Michael Dodge of the humanities
department (who were both featured in the Heritage Theatre Group’s production of Shakespeare’s
Two Gentlemen of Verona this July) are to appear in the Heritage Theatre Group’s final
summer production: Stephen Vincent Benét’s Stories of America.
Directed by Don Rice, the play uses the stories and poems of Benét, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning epic poem John Brown’s Body, to retell American history onstage and in non-traditional fashion. Stories of America features just six actors who mime, deliver monologues, and act out the scenes and stories. Compiled by playwright F. Andrew Leslie, this engrossing play will both inform and entertain with song, poetry, and more.
Performance dates for Stephen Vincent Benét’s Stories of America are August 12-15 and 19-22, with all shows to be held at Spectrum Theatre on the campus of Grand Rapids Community College. Shows are at 8 p.m., with the exception of Sunday matinees which begin at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18, with $14 tickets for seniors and $10 tickets for students with a valid ID. All Sunday matinee tickets will be priced at $10 ($5 for students with ID). Tickets can be purchased by calling the Spectrum Theatre box office at (616) 234-3946.
