Certificate Program in Sustainable Business will offer business owners and professionals
an opportunity to learn about sustainable business perspectives, practices and change
strategies.
The growing number of businesses embracing the concepts of sustainable business is creating a corresponding demand for workers who are educated and trained to be effective advocates for change. Offered through the College's Center for Sustainability, the Sustainable Business Professional Certificate Program features expert presenters who bring the latest theories and practices in a format ready-made for busy business professionals.
"The program is designed for managers and executives as well as other professionals thinking about a career change who wish to deepen their understanding of sustainable business fundamentals but may not have the time to devote to a full academic program," said Deborah Steketee, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Center.
The non-credit certificate is comprised of six, three-hour sessions, including two core sessions (required) and four electives. Sessions begin September 15, with several subsequent opportunities to get started in the certificate program. Session topics include: Foundations in Sustainable Business, Champions for Change: Building the Case for Sustainable Business, Sustainable Energy Systems & Policy, Corporate Social Responsibility, Industrial Ecology & Life Cycle Assessment, Managing the Value Chain for Sustainability, Sustainability Metrics and Reporting, Climate Change Management: Strategies & Tools , Sustainable Business Innovation.
The foundational courses and active learning modules focus on topics that will enhance the ability of workplace professionals to deploy new tools, framework and organizational strategies, as well as help them serve as change agents to move their organizations to the forefront of sustainability efforts.
