On Wednesday, October 26, Dr. Larry Burns, a practicing OB/GYN physician, will discuss
"The Ethical Dilemma of Stem-Cell Research" from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. in the Academic
Building, room 102. Burns' discussion is sponsored by the Aquinas Right to Life group
and is part of Pro-Life Awareness Week.
Burns, a 1963 alumnus of Aquinas College, graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri, and served his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital. He has been involved in the pro-life movement, serving as President of Grand Rapids Right to Life for 15 years and continues to serve on the Grand Rapids Board of Right to Life. Burns is involved in teaching sex education and abstinence and has given talks on various life issues. He has served on the Ethics Board at St. Mary’s for twenty years. Dr. Burns is married with six children and eight grand-children.
Two other Pro-Life Awareness Week events are on Friday, October 29. Speaker Sue Mol has started Rachel's Heart, a Bible Study for post-abortive women. Come and hear Sue tell her touching story at 12:30 p.m. in the Academic Building, room 117. Please join us at the crosses near the Statue of Mary in the grassy area in front of Holmdene at 3 p.m. to pray the Rosary for respect of all human life.
