GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN (June 3, 2009) - The Aquinas College Jazz Camp begins on Sunday,
June 14 and goes through Friday, June 19. The faculty includes the following outstanding
musicians: Dr. Paul Brewer, camp director, instructor in trombone and voice; Matt
Brewer, electric and acoustic bass; Ila Cantor, electric and acoustic guitar; Dr.
Kurt Ellenberger, piano, keyboards & composition, Tim Froncek, drum set and percussion;
Mike Hyde, electric and acoustic guitar; Tom Lockwood, tenor saxophone and bass; Bob
Nixon, alto saxophone and big band; and Jason Palmer, trumpets. The musicians are
all recognized jazz masters whose careers as teachers and payers are well established
and widely respected.
The faculty concert will be on Wednesday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m. and the student showcase concert is on Friday, June 19 at 2 p.m. The concerts are in the Aquinas Art and Music Center.
The Interlochen Jazz Ensemble will play on Tuesday, June 16 from 3 to 4 p.m. also in the Art and Music Center. Admission is free and all are welcome to the concerts.
