The Aquinas College 19th Annual St. Thomas Aquinas Lecture

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN (January 12, 2010) - Peter J. Kreeft, Ph.D., professor of philosophy
at Boston College and The King's College, and is the author of over 55 books. Kreeft
will speak on Seeking and Responding to Truth on Friday, January 29 from 12:15 to
1:30 p.m. in the Aquinas College Wege Center Ballroom. His lecture is the 19th Annual
St. Thomas Aquinas Lecture and takes place during St. Thomas Aquinas Week at Aquinas.
The lecture is free and open to the public. If you would like, bring your own lunch

In 1959, Kreeft graduated from Calvin College, earned a master's of arts degree from Fordham University in1961 and completed his doctoral studies at Fordham in 1965. He did some graduate work at Yale University. His conversion to Catholicism occurred after investigating the claims of the Catholic Church that it went back to the early Church. Another reason for his conversion was the discovery that in the early Church such Catholic elements as the centrality of the Eucharist, the Real Presence, prayers to saints, devotion to Mary, an insistence on visible unity, and apostolic succession were present. He came to the conclusion that Church fathers such as Augustine and Jerome were clearly Catholic.
Kreeft is an acclaimed and prolific writer. A few of the books he has written are Fundamentals of the Faith, Everything you Ever Want to Know about Heaven, Back to Virtue, Love is Stronger Than Death, and Catholic Christianity. His ideas come from religious and philosophical tradition, mainly Thomas Aquinas, Socrates, G.K. Chesterton and C.S. Lewis. He worked for 20 years on his one and only novel titled An Ocean Full of Angels and it has now been published by Amazon.
Many honors have been awarded to Kreeft for his accomplishments in philosophical reasoning. Some of the honors are Yale-Sterling Fellowship, Woodrow Wilson, Newman Alumni Scholarship, Danforth Asian Religions Fellowship, and Weathersfield Homeland Foundation Fellowship to name a few.
